It was Donna MacIntosh’s lucky day recently...she was “sprung” from her “cell” for a couple appointments and made the most of it by snapping photos along the way with her friend, Cindy (HI LOU!). They were amazed that several trees in Houghton’s Kestner Park still had their leaves, perhaps due to being close to the waterfront helped with that. While at the Park, they must have been eating their lunch in the vehicle and a wily seagull spotted them and landed on the hood, looking for a handout, but all he got was on candid camera.

Donna also snapped a bright yellow leaf among the already dried and curling ones that had fallen previously. Then the duo headed to Quincy Hill for a drive and she captured the new miner statue from a neat angle...makes it look like they were walking to the mine, from the dry house ruins, like back in the day. Pretty neat!

And last, but not least, Donna said she’s been trying for years to get a good shot of the full moon and finally succeeded with a fabulous photo of the Full Beaver Moon from this past Friday night. She said she’s quite thrilled with having captured this one after all her previous attempts didn’t work out. It’s really a good one!

Today’s video comes from Animal Fact Files and gives us “10 Facts You Never Knew” about seagulls. Although you may have known a few of them already.

I love these, Donna. Makes me
happy you got sprung, too. And I
love it when I can capture the
moon like that, too. It's very
exciting. Way to go!

Hi
I believe being by the water does make a difference
in when leaves turn.

Nice shot of the moon. Last week I went on a guided
night hike under what would have been bright
moonlight. Alas, it'd been a rainy day and we still
had cloud cover. Eerie misty woods had their charm,
though.

Way to go, Donna! Nice pix and video.
I love to see gulls.

Thank you all....I was beyond thrilled to get that
moon, and it's the last Supermoon until October
2025!!

And Mary...."Gulla Gulla"...I yelled that to the
bird, and Cindy looked at me like "WHAT" and that's
what my Grandma yelled, when she fed them darn near
daily..."GULLA GULLA"...and she threw her leftovers
out (If she didn't keep them), and they flew in
right now. And swallowed down whatever real fast,
so they could get more. Way cool....

And yes, we ALWAYS hit Culver's (best red onion
burger with all the trimmings, on the planet) and
down to Kestner Park to eat....They are the BEST
burger...you ain't lived till you ate one of them!

Wonderful escape Donna. Is that where escapades comes from? It seems you were on an escapade after all.

Beauty Moon shot.

I agree about Culvers, their Butter Burger is unique among the fast food choices. I'm not sure how they get that distinct and great taste. Do you think it's the red onions? Their fish is also pretty good (for fast food), especially during Lent when they offer it in Walleye.

Ha ha, Alex

By Donna (Donna) on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 - 11:06 am:

D.A., I swear it's the red onion....and all the
trimmings, including the burger...Those butter
burgers are the best fast food burger on the
planet!!

I don't particularly care for fish. When we were
kids, my Dad fished a lot. We ate more trout than
a person should. lol. I don't like fish. I'll do
whitefish once in a while...I used to do salmon
too, but the last time I ate some, it was way too
fishy...so that's off the list now too. But
yes...red onion rocks.
