Cindy Lou (Hi LOU!) and Donna MacIntosh sometimes head out cruising around the Keweenaw, to see what they can see. The pair did so recently and stopped at the top of the stairway in Hancock that leads down to street level near the Portage Lake Lift Bridge. Cindy snapped a couple pictures of the stairway from UP there.

The next three photos were taken by Donna as they continued on and spotted the stonework in the third photo, with what looks like one of the Seven Dwarfs in an alcove in the center. From there they found a giant crock sitting in someone’s yard. I’d love to hear the stories of how both of those items came to be. Then finally the patch of crocuses was the last shot that day. They’re such pretty flowers and they keep popping up year after year.

The Woodsy Introverts share with us some of their moments while navigating the final days of winter into the Keweenaw Spring. It’s a slow transition some years with nice days and then some more snow, nice days again and more snow. Hopefully we’re just about done with the snow now.

I think that's a Buddha in there. Although, I sure can't get out and walk!

I love when Lou takes me out. She's the only person that does!~ She takes me to all my appts...even down to Marquette! She is an Angel on this Earth~ Not only HI Lou....but the biggest THANK YOU too! I love you lots~

Interesting post! I agree, it does make you wonder who did all that beautiful stonework! Perhaps WPA? There are lots of examples of stonework done by them. And what's with the crock?

It's so nice to see Donna getting out and sharing her day with us.
It's so wonderful to see some spring pictures. Nice job!!

Jbuck...you should see the whole thing....it is huge and just so beautiful. We wondered the same thing. Who did it? Was it WPA/CCC?? And that crock is taller than you and I. It's huge...

Thanks Deb...it's so awesome to get out of here....and next time, Lou got a brand new car. I will smell that "New Car" smell. I couldn't tell you the last time, if ever, I smelled that smell!

Nice set, Donna!
Looks like an alligator to me.

Alex! You're back!!! So good to see your post!

By Alex - UP-Goldwinger (Alex) on Friday, April 26, 2024 - 05:32 pm:

Thanks Jbuck! I’m a little rusty…I double-posted.

Mary says: No problem, Alex, you were probably just so excited to be back and posting you had to say it twice! I "fixed" it for you. ;-)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, April 26, 2024 - 07:00 pm:

Hi Alex, so nice to hear from you again. And I double post all the time. Mary is kind enough to fix it for me. Praying you stay healthy now.

Hi
Donna, I think that's a gnome, not a buddha. I also see a resemblance to the little guy who used to be on the Vernor's ginger ale label.

I enjoyed the video, but I confess I'm too much of a downstate person to be philosophical about snow on the ground in spring. Here's an excerpt of the Robert Frost poem "Two Tramps in Mud Time":

The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You're one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,
A wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March.

Nice to see you back Alex.

I also have wondered about that gnome-like creature in stone. There should be some kind of identifying mark, but I've never looked for it. I do see a water system access point in the concrete steps.

My backyard looks like that shot of crocuses. I have never been able to justify weed killers. I prefer the natural prairie look. I do mow it though.

Nice pics ladies! Glad you're able to get outdoors Ms. Donna, with Lou and breath that most vitalizing air on earth!

That second pic reminds me of where the Hancock Strangler might hang out, sorry but it does look like a movie scene where that might happen lol. I know, I've been living in the big city too long.

The Woodsy Introvert videos always bring a smile to my face. Gotta love when they're out walking/running/riding their property with dogs. The narration is soothing to me as well.

Alex, nice to see you posting again, that one day at a time, is working! Two thumbs U.P. and a bothersome phone call from yours truly. :=)) Stay strong my friend and hit me up if you need anything, I'm back up and at it! Maybe we should be looking into edibles, Ron too?? LOL-JK

Ron, glad you're on the mend and I hope PT doesn't add to your pain. We'll have to compare scars one day lol. I have no doubt that Ms. Deb is taking good care of you and also keeping you in line! :-)

Julie I hope Buck is doing well and you two get to the Antrim area this summer and possibly to the Yoop??

D.A. as far as I know or should I say... read, I hope life is treating you well and your health is good? Maybe you'll be in the Keweenaw this summer!!??

George, I trust life is well U.P. on that North Shore??

Kathy L, Dr Nat & Capt. Paul, I hope life is treating you all very well.

Mary, safe travels going to the WRECKER'S sporting events. Please say hi to my buddy Jim as well, looking forward to opening a keg of nails with him.

Have a Great Weekend All- The NFL DRAFT is going well and a great success for the city of Detroit. They did a great job with everything.

U.C,
Reminds me a bit of that scene from "The Exorcist" when the priest "fell" down the steps.

Health is OK. I'm back on my weight loss regime I started during COVID. Taking care of my elder sister for the past several months threw me off. She's OK, now in a good nursing home (can we still call it that?).

I'm headed to Virginia in 2 weeks. My old high school buddy & college roommate is getting married. I'm not taking the trailer. Actually I'm starting to think about trading it in for a Class B van. I DO hope to get UP this year.

You didn't say how you've been.
