The Lake Linden Downtown Development Association organized an Easter Egg Hunt event in the Lake Linden Park, the day before Easter and it was well attended by adults and kids alike. “Hunter’s” were given a map to start the hunt, plus there was an opportunity to have a picture with the Easter Bunny, with photographer Jessica McBee (click on this link to check out her page: Jessa Lynn Photography). A highlight of the event was the Lake Linden Fire Department setting up fire pits so the attendees could make Smore’s if desired.

Lake Linden Events & Information provided today’s photos except for the Easter Bunny shot from Jessica (see above). They thanked all the volunteers and the sponsors that made this wonderful event come together!

We have a video from Visit Keweenaw, highlighting Dark Skies and why the Keweenaw is perfect for viewing dark skies and northern lights, according to local expert Nathan Bett.

Eggxciting set! And speaking of dark skies;
Is anyone planning a trip to the path of totality?
I just hope it gets dark enough to take a
good nap.

I almost forgot;
“And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.”

What FUN! Go Lake Linden!

And Dark Skies Park...I wanna go so bad. But, that
ain't happening.

Nope...not heading anywhere for Totality. I'm sure
there will be tons of pics....and I can't wait to
hear the total dollars spent over this. Hotel rooms
upped by 450% and people gladly pay it...

What a fabulous video! WOWOWOWOWOWOW!

Very fun pictures. I'm sure even the adults had
fun. Nice job, Lake Linden.

It's naturally raining on this day of the eclipse
here in the Copper Country. So, who knows what
we'll see, if anything. We didn't get the glasses
anyway.

By George L. (Yooperinct) on Monday, April 8, 2024 - 02:32 pm:

Here in northeast CT we're expecting 92% totality around 3:30. Time to relax on the deck with a cold craft beer. Skies are pretty clear so it should be a good show. We didn't buy the glasses either, Deb, we're just gonna experience the eerie darkening and then back to daylight.

By George L. (Yooperinct) on Monday, April 8, 2024 - 04:40 pm:

So.....it got very dim here in CT around 3:30 but couldn't even call it dark. Just kinda weird in-between, but very cool anyway. They just said the next total solar eclipse that will hit my area here will be in 2079. Not gonna order any pizzas for that anytime soon, tho...!

I drove to Toledo to see the total eclipse and it was worth it. Some thin high clouds covered the sky but I could clearly see the Sun as it was covered by the moon. I could also see Venus not far from the sun and the corona. It lasted a bit more than a minute. Some radio commentator said the difference between seeing a partial eclipse and seeing a total eclipse is like the difference between kissing someone and marrying someone. I agree.

By Kathyrn Laughlin (Kathyl) on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 - 09:25 am:

Hi
A couple of friends and I drove down to Findlay,
Ohio on Monday. I agree with John Mich that it was
well worth it. We had 4 minutes of totality (also
thin clouds). I was struck by the temperature
change. We could see two planets. There was a 360
degree sunset. I was also stuck by how much
brighter it became when even a tiny sliver of the
sun re-appeared.

It was doable driving from Lansing/Jackson down
and back on the same day. We escaped the traffic
down by making an early start but it was heavy &
slow on the way home. But, I'm 69, and I don't
think such an opportunity would come, with so
little travel, again in my lifetime.

By D. A. (Midwested) on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 - 02:50 am:

I was lucky enough to make it again this year to the eclipse. I just got back. I didn't want to risk getting stranded in bad traffic so I pre-planned to stop early.

For the event I made it to Vincennes, IN which was right in the middle of Totality. I was also at the 2017 which took a path nearby through southern IL.

Kathyrn,
It is that 360 degree sunset that fascinates me. I captured it this time on my phone and trying to get it posted soon. You don't hear it talked about much.

Something to ponder, the thought occurred to me yesterday that a solar eclipse is really just the most perfect New Moon possible.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, April 11, 2024 - 09:29 am:

Those of you lucky enough to see the eclipse,
hooray for you. It was cloudy here.
