This past week it seems it’s been quite windy every.single.day! We have proof in photographs from two separate photographers. The first two shots were captured by Chris Hendra (click on that link to see more of his photos). Chris said he took a ride around the Keweenaw and stopped on west side to get a few wave pictures. I love how the camera stops the action of the waves and suspends them, so we get a better look as the wave crests.
The last two shots are from Debbie Jarve who snapped her shots at Bucky’s, also known as Calumet Waterworks Park. Debbie commented that the wild winds make for some great wave action. Sure looks like the Big Lake was stirred up that day, with wave after wave rolling in.
Grab a cup of coffee and sit back for a look at a variety of camp maple syrup operations, with 906 Outdoors. The video is just over 22 minutes, but so interesting to see the different ways folks make their maple syrup.

I've been trying all day to get into pasty and finally it came up. It was worth the wait. Thanks to these photographers for these beautiful shots.

I had the same problem too, Deb. But I agree…”It was worth the wait.” Super wave-action pix! Hard to pick a favorite, but I’m goin with #2. And a nice video…I’ll never look at a pancake the same way again. I liked the saying near the and; “If you’re not sticky by the time you’re done you something wrong.” And I don’t think that was a metaphor.

LOL...how true that's gotta be Alex....
As a kid, Leonard Gregoire had his "sugar shack" down the road, and it was so wonderful...Leonard always had samples, esp candy for us kids...there's just nothing like good home made maple syrup....
Awesome pics...be careful...Mother Superior does not mess around!

We were all in the same boat! I even checked to see if there were power outages in the Pasty Cam neck of the woods. Shows how much you miss the good vibes from Pasty Cam!
Those waves look brutal - and when they are the blue green shade it's chilling! So time to warm up in the sugar shack!!! REAL maple candy is the best!

The 906 maple syrup video is just GREAT. Always good stuff from Pasty. I continue to be amazed that the Calumet Waterworks park is still referred to as Bucky's. I wonder what percentage of people actually know who Bucky was. I, at 74 knew him very well. He owned and operated a candy ice cream stand on the Northwest end of the park. A little short stocky guy who worked in a Calumet bank during the day, then operated the stand late afternoons and evenings and weekends. He's been gone for a half century but I can still visualize him behind the counter. Cars would drive right up to the frond for cones and such, there he was behind the screen window. Unforgetable, 60 years ago. David S.

I miss the Lake the most when it's angry like this. Very nice shots. Creating the great imagery is all about the Light & the Person & (for the best ones) Mother Nature.
I don't think I've ever had real maple syrup :(

Chris has captured some very marvelous imagery, especially the wild life. Great work Chris.
