Another storm with high winds over the weekend means another round of freighters taking shelter. These shots show the Kaye E. Barker taking refuge in Pequaming Bay near Zeba and L’Anse, snapped by Nancy Haun. She said that eagle in the first shot was soaring next to her. I love how she captured both the Barker and the eagle in the same shot. Snow accompanied this storm, too, so the area finally has some snow for snowmobiling, skiing and other winter sports. This will be a big help for the local businesses, who have been waiting for the tourist traffic to help keep them going.

Nancy’s fourth shot was taken late last week as dusk was arriving in the evening. Check out the windows of the Quincy Mine Shaft, that’s the setting sun reflecting in each of them, looking like fire. Nice capture!

Steve Brimm says that you can’t spend too much time staring at Lake Superior. That’s a fact...and someone else added or listening to her, either.

Nice shots of the Kaye E. Barker wessel
(as Pavel Chekov used to say).
The third shot looks like the wessel
is floating on ice.

Thanks for sharing so pictures. I don't tire of them. Is that video in Eagle Harbor with that tree blocking the view of the
lighthouse? And for sure, never get tired of Lake Superior.

Hi
I always enjoy the ship pictures. And I'm glad they know to take shelter.

Love da video of Superior. I have always considered sitting and observing da big lake as medicine for the mind. Never get tired of it and always drawn back to it.

There were a lot of boats seeking refuge in leeward harbors in the past few days. I found this screen shot from Marine Traffic amusing. Boats enter their destinations into the tracking system but this time someone on the Kaye E. Barker had a bit of a sense of humor by entering "The Hiding Place". Or maybe that's the common name for that spot?

Earlier this month, the American Mariner was headed for Buffalo, NY but added their own bit to it by entering their destination as "Buffalo Go Bills".

The Hiding Place

Deb...I think the video is looking out at Lake Superior from Copper Harbor, the cut between Hunter's Point and Porters Island in the Harbor.

OK. Thanks. That would make sense.
