We’re joining Debbie Jarve out at Calumet Waterworks Park (a.k.a. Bucky’s) for a few off the beaten path shots there. I’m not sure whereabouts at Waterworks this crick or creek is in here first photo, but what a beautiful scene that is. You can almost hear the water running.
Next Debbie framed an Oak Leaf among the rocks on the beach. It looks like the waves have been washing over those rocks, wetting them and making tracks in the sand. On her way back to her vehicle, Debbie spotted what’s either an Asian Beetle or a Ladybug. I’m not quite sure how you can tell which is which, except the if you squish them, the Asian Beetle has a distinctive stink to it. Aren’t the Asian Beetles considered an invasive species now? Anyway, check out the reflection of the tree in the window where the bug is sitting!
And finally, Debbie shares a shot from where she works on the Houghton waterfront, of the Portage Canal and Lift Bridge a bit fogged in. Check out her hyperlapse video of the fog clearing off the Canal. There’s no sound on this one and at first it doesn’t seem to be moving, but keep watching as the fog dissipates quite quickly.

Nice set! I especially like the first one. If memory serves me correctly, that’s an English Beetle named Ringo. I had to watch the video twice to notice any movement. And lucky Debbie for having such a cool place to work. Thanks, Debbie for sharing. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and safe travels for those who went out out of town.

Very nice pictures. This creek is maybe the one on the west side of Bucky's. I took some cool pictures there in 2022. The bridge picture is haunting and I loved the video. Lucky Debbie!
Hope you all survived the Thanksgiving holiday. If you set your scale back 10 or 15 pounds, your waistline should be safe from all the goodies.

Regarding Debbie's last photo...
At 1st, it reminded me of a ship moored along the waterfront, where the picnic tables were cleats that are used for rope attachment.

I've noticed the middle of the Big Lake has been empty for a couple of days.
Very strong prevailing winds and large waves have more than a dozen Lakers hanging out in several safe harbor locations, many in Keweenaw Bay and Bete Grise Bay.
