Barbara Bouwkamp travels this road around Rice Lake often on her way to their camp and she says it never fails in its beautiful views all year round, but in Autumn, it is just that much more spectacular, especially on a calm day when Rice Lake is just like a mirror. The day these photos were taken wasn’t sunny, so the colors are a bit more subdued with the low light, but oh my, the reflections make up for that as they double your pleasure. Barb’s second photo could be turned upside down and you’d probably not even notice. So much beauty in the Keweenaw right now.

We join Visit Keweenaw for a look at the Redridge Dam near Freda and a short history of this Michigan Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. The lead-in to the video states the dam was built in 1901 out of steel. Steel was a rare material for construction of dams, making this an especially unique historic site. Trails around the dam offer plenty of different views of this magnificent structure. As always, please respect historic sites and leave no trace when visiting.

That is so gorgeous....beautiful pics....That
Redridge dam is sure marked up. What a shame.

Very nice, i like the muted tones as well as the vibrant colors from yesterday's shots. I'm with D. A.'s comments from yesterday about enhancing pictures. I'm glad today's shots weren't enhanced (or yesterdays) and show us what the scenes really looked like.

I remember decades ago going to the Red Ridge dam when everything was officially off limits! So different now.
