Deb Simons said when she and Ron headed out exploring the trails north in their Ranger side-by-side, they didn’t even know that Seneca Lake on the Cliff Drive existed and they only got there because they somehow took a wrong trail. It wasn’t where they were headed, but it was fun being adventurous and they were happy when they found this beautifully serene lake. Ron checked things out to see if there were any fish swimming around, but they hadn’t packed any fishing poles on their side-by-side for this adventure. Deb added that the color was amazing for being so early and Keweenaw County was more colorful than Houghton County the day of their adventure.

If like me, you’ve never been to Point Abbaye, you’ll appreciate today’s video from Jeff Dennis. He takes us to this small peninsula between Keweenaw Bay and Huron Bay. You’ll see the Huron Mountains on the horizon. It is a remote spot that involves an eleven mile drive on a sandy two track that you’ll have to take your time on, then there are several hiking trails that lead to the point, with the shortest being about a 20 minute hike. But, oh what a glorious view of Lake Superior... that makes the journey worth it.

Great adventure Deb & Ron! How cool to find Seneca Lake on a 'wrong turn'! Those can be the best kind! Thanks for taking us along - looks like the deep reds are really popping around the lake!

We only made it 1/2 way to Point Abbaye one time - the road was so rough back then we decided not to go further, even in the 4WD truck! Chickens! Appreciate Jeff's tour!

Nice pix, Deb…looks like you’re living the dream.
And what is that square object next to the
ATV in the fifth photo?
Sweet video too!

It was a fun day made more fun by a wrong
turn, lol. It was so very peaceful there.
We will go back with fishing poles.

Loved the video since I don't think I knew
this place existed.

Sorry, Alex. I forgot to answer your
question. It's a trash receptacle.

Point Abbaye IS beautiful...me and my sis took a
spin out there a couple of times. The road was
tough...but they have fixed it up some...Baraga
County is supposed to turn it into a park....sooner
or later. It is a stunning place.

And Deb...what a wonderful adventure. You are a
lucky gal!

Deb, you're so classy! I would have said it was a garbage can!

I too found Seneca Lake by accident while searching up and down Cliff Road looking for the road heading up. Tell Ron there was a fellow fishing from that dock, but I didn't see any catch.

In 2017 I made it all the way out to the Baraga County Park at Point Abbaye. And yes, it was a very rough road, much rougher than the road to High Rock Bay. I almost turned around but the road got better by the time I hit a spot to make the turn.
Here's some proof of my trek.
