Marcy Bessolo Hermanson and her hubby, Eric figured they found the perfect way to end a busy week. They hopped on their fat tire bikes and road from the Mandan Road to Fish Cove recently. Marcy said she’s always in awe at the beauty of our Keweenaw, but this was her first time out to this area, so it was all brand new beauty for her to behold. Fish Cove is just around the point from the mouth of the Montreal River, toward Keystone Bay. At a leisurely bike pace it took them about a half hour ride one way. It’s an ATV only trail to get there and I’m just guessing that fat tire bikes are probably your best bet, as they can go through sand and rough spots much easier. Marcy said it was a fun ride, but with the sun beginning to go down, the mosquitoes were getting fierce as they were getting back to their truck again, so they came back at just the right time. Those pesky biters like to come out in the early evening, looking for tasty humans to feast on.

My favorite shot of the set is the first one. That rock looks like a profile of a person, perched atop the other rocks on the shoreline. The rest of the photos show the rugged beauty of the Lake Superior shoreline. It actually reminds me of Isle Royale with the rocky terrain and all the little coves.

We join TourDaYoop for a look at all the adventures that await you here in the UP. Their lead-in to the video says: “The U.P. is a wonderful land that holds a special place in people’s hearts who have lived and visited here. Truly a unique four season wilderness with beautiful fresh water everywhere, best fall colors in the US, the most snow in the US east of the Rockies, rich in geological minerals and metals, and full of mining history that helped shaped the UP into what it is today.” What a great description of our beautiful Upper Peninsula!
