Today’s snow laden photos were what was happening around the U.P. on the first two days of May. When most people are enjoying spring weather, Laurie Bashaw was experiencing winter AGAIN at her Ishpeming home. She said the poor birds were flitting around looking for food, so they had to venture out on dicey roads to get some bird seed for them. I don’t know the official total, but from Sunday to Tuesday, this is what was happening and I heard totals of around 30 inches. Schools were closed both Monday and Tuesday in the Marquette area.
But not just in Ishpeming... over in Michigamme, Jacki Skytta had almost identical photos for those same days as Laurie. You can see the heavy wet snow sticking to the trees in her first photo. That’s the kind of snow that caused power outages for folks in the Marquette area during this Spring snow storm. And check out Jacki’s car... you almost can’t see it, since it’s white like that snow burying it. In case you can’t tell, it takes Sisu to live UP here, that’s for sure.
Meanwhile, in the Keweenaw, we didn’t get quite that much snow. Here in Lake Linden we had maybe 2 or 3 inches, which melted by evening both days. Calumet had more than that and again, I don’t know the official totals. You can do a guesstimate after viewing Debbie Jarve’s drive around Calumet from the same day as the photos above. Hey, old man winter... we’re crying uncle, you can stop the snow machine any time now. Us Yoopers need some spring and summer weather.

That is a lot to handle in May. I liked Debbie Jarve’s video and was
impressed by how long it was. Cam batteries must be getting
Hi Spring comes later in the UP, and somewhat in the northern lower. All you yoopers, I hope it melts (WITHOUT more wild flooding).

Nothing against Mary or Laurie but I'm so tired of snow pictures, even though these are amazing! The sun and warmth had felt wonderful the last few days. I hope it's here to stay. Laurie, I hope you've gotten rid of that stuff now.
