The Silver River Falls is located 8.5 miles outside of L’Anse. Nancy Haun took a drive that way this past weekend to check out what the falls were doing with all the spring snow melt going on earlier in the week. What she found was some amazing water shots, with the falls and river waters raging like crazy. The photos Nancy snapped show the fury of the water, stopped in time.

Nancy shares a video, too. The sound is deafening! Sit back and get comfortable, it’s about 22 minutes long. Her lead-in to the video says: “This is one of many beautiful falls on the Silver River. The Silver River is well known for a fun fishing river. It empties into Huron Bay and Henry Ford and others did a lot of logging in the woods on the banks of the river! Actually at this point we are pretty close to Pequaming and Ford's unique town. This is such an easy falls to get to - from downtown L'Anse turn right on the Skanee Rd, and head up the hill for 8.5 miles then turn right when you get to Silver River Falls Rd. You will then be on the old Henry Ford Rail grade. Go a half mile and curve to the left when the road curves. If you were to go straight at this point you would soon be at the river - there is no longer a bridge here but there were two in the past. It is an exciting area to explore with lots of history!”

I now have an addition to my bucket list. Thanks

Thunderous applause in the forest.

For comparison purposes, I attached a photo below of the same location on the Silver River during the Autumn of 2017. I think I got a bit too close to the edge than did Nancy. I'm so jealous of Nancy's access though. I guess I need to follow Uncle Chuck's advice and get the trailer UP before they shut off the water.

Deb,
Another easy walk in the area is to the Black Slate Falls and Quartzite Falls on the Slate River. And if you have the time, check out the Whirl-I-Gig to bowl a few frames.
