Debbie Jarve was out and about over the weekend and reports that the Swedetown Swans are back in town. You can see by the photo, there’s still some ice on the ponds there, but with the rain we’ve had most of Sunday, there most likely is more open water there now. As of this writing, our forecast is for some wintry weather to return late tonight (Sunday), into Monday and possibly Tuesday, too. I’m hoping the forecast is wrong and if it isn’t, then that this is the last of winter.

With the fast melt of the snow we had earlier this week, the falls around the area are gushing with water. Debbie shares a couple shots of the Ten Foot Falls on the road to Eagle River, along with a photo of the Eagle River Falls and the river flowing under the wood timber bridge there, heading out to Lake Superior. If you’re familiar with the Ten Foot Falls, you know there are usually large rock formations there, but the water is flowing so high and rapidly, that all the rock is hidden. Same at the Eagle River Falls, you can’t see any of the rock underneath all that frothing water.

In case you’re wondering what the sound of the falls is like, Debbie stopped to record a video to share, also. Turn up your volume to hear the roar! She zooms in several times and the roar gets even louder then! Lots of power in that rushing water like that.

Great pictures! So nice to see something other
than snow. But I'm looking out my window at it
lightly coming down right now. We're going to see
the Eagle River Falls after this latest
precipitation. Looks like they're really running
really good. Thanks for sharing these with us.

I spilled my lunch while watching the video after that quick zoom-in. Quite a shocker, but still entrancing and beautiful.

Excellent pix and video…I anxiously await these all winter.

Thank you so very much for taking the time and sharing these jewels, Debbie!

Fantastic pics & video! Great time to be in the U.P. if you enjoy the waterfalls! I'll bet Haven Falls in Lac La Belle is roaring as well.

I would think the smelt should be running soon if they're not already. That was always a fun time when I was at NMU this time of year.

YES! U.C., Smelting was always great and messy. It was frowned upon to use the dorm sinks to clean them, and for good reason.

My last smelt trip was one for the books. I fell in the creek, opening the stitches from my previous weeks surgery. I spent the next 2 weeks laying on my stomach. I'm laughing out loud right now but the mood was quite the opposite back then.

With all the warm weather & melting snow last week up north, the Mississippi by me is getting ready to flood.
