A sunset can be a perfect end to a great weekend or the perfect beginning to a new week. Today’s shots from Jamie Rowe are the latter, the perfect way to start this week on the Pasty Cam. I really like all three photos, but that first one with the sun right there on the horizon, coloring the splash against the rocks pink and putting a shine on the ice formation...it’s hard to beat a view like that. This would be beautiful made into a canvas and hanging on the wall.

These were all snapped at Esrey Park, one of the best places to watch the sun set no matter if it’s winter, spring, summer or fall. It’s also a great place for a picnic and maybe get in a bit of rock picking, too.

I know there are a number of folks who don’t really like crossing the Mackinac Bridge, but for me, it’s always a thrill, especially if there’s a freighter coming through at the same time. We have a video short, with some added interesting info, from the Restless Viking as they drive across the Mighty Mac in the winter. Check out the ice chunks below, through the grates of the bridge.

Gorgeous pictures! My favorite is the 3rd one, but
they're all so beautiful. I can't wait to get out
to Esrey again. I've never thought about staying
out there for the subset, mainly because we don't
like the drive home with the deer out there. But
maybe this summer.

I, too, get a thrill every time I ride over that
bridge. Great information in that video and what a

It will be much harder to get to Esrey Park this Spring & Summer when MDOT removes the Silver River Bridge outside of Eagle Harbor, and constructing the replacement. Has to be done, but it will be a long detour!
