It seems like the sunrises and the sunsets have been extra the past month or so, with a number of real beauties. Maybe it’s just because it’s winter and we don’t usually see so many this time of year, but whatever the reason, we have to celebrate the spectacular ones like these here today from Joanne Furton. She captured these in Menominee, from the marina there and by the Menominee North Pier Lighthouse. With the sky so pink and the reflection on the ice just as colorful, it looks like a watercolor painting. Luckily for us, Joanne was out there snapping photos so we could all enjoy this wonderful start to an Upper Michigan day.
Heading to Ironwood with Nick and Andy from MI Playground, as they do some gnarly snowboarding at Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort and Mt. Zion Ski Area. The guys add this interesting bit of information... that Mt. Zion is on the campus of Gogebic Community College where the students who are part of the ski area management program actually run and operate the ski area. Gogebic is one of two colleges in the continental United States that offers a ski area management degree.
