Yes, we even snowshoe at night, says Judy Byykkonen. These ladies made sure the batteries in their head lamps were fresh and away they went on the Nara Trails in Houghton recently. The weather has been ideal for a nighttime snowshoe this past week, with an almost full moon still, it has been quite bright at night, but a head lamp is still a requirement if you want to be sure of where you’re going. The other requirement is a group of friends that enjoy adventures like this, too. I bet there was plenty of chitter-chattering along the way and a few laughs, too.

Andy and Nick from MI Playground were out snowshoeing, too, but they were further east at Tahquamenon Falls State Park after a fresh snow. They started at the Upper Falls, which they said is easier to access in the winter and often plowed and shoveled for access. They then head down the road to the Lower Falls where they recommend strapping on snowshoes for the hike to explore the area, including a trip across the new bridge to the island there. Of course we get to enjoy both Upper and Lower Falls without snowshoes or winter attire!

year. We visited them for the first time
last summer. They did not disappoint.

The Tahquamenon video is fantastic! So cool that you can cross the bridge over to the island and see the falls all the way around now. Would love to make that trip!
