Beth Jukuri and her Granddaughter went on a weekend adventure to McLain State Park and found a couple Lake Superior Omar Rocks, while having oodles of late fall, early winter fun climbing trees, hills and hiding behind leafless branches...Beth’s granddaughter that is. Beth smartly stayed behind the camera and let the youngster do all the climbing. She may not realize until she’s older what a special gift Grandma has given her by spending so much time on adventures outdoors with her like she does. What a blessing in so many ways!

Here again, the snow we received earlier seems to have melted for the most part, but have no fear, more is coming…

We have a video from McLain State Park by Vineland Studio of a walkthrough at the park from earlier this spring. It looks much like Beth’s photos from this weekend, except for the lighter clothing on the people.

I just received a call from Uncle Chuck and he asked me to pass on this message...
His meniscus repair surgery was this morning early. The Dr. Said it was a large tear, but the repair went well. He's already at home and in bed resting, under the care of "Drill Sergeant, Vicki" (his title for his loving wife during his recovery..ha, ha). He'll check in with us here on the Pasty Cam in a few days when he's able to be up and about and at his computer.
Thoughts and prayers for a quick and full recovery for our Buddy!

Way to go, UC! You’ll be running marathons in no time.

Get Well Uncle Chuck~

Here's for ya'll Boat Nerds, out of this month's
Lake Superior magazine:

Newest Great Lakes Freighter Earns 'Ship of the
Year 2023'

Professional Mariner, a journal of the maritime
industry, has renamed the Mark W. Barker as its
2023 Ship of the Year.
The 639-foot Barker, named for the current
president of the family-operated Interlake
Steamship Company, is the first U.S. laker
constructed in 40 years. The company operates 10
ships, including the 1,013-foot Paul R. Tregurtha,
the longest active laker. "It's the first ship
operating on the Lakes with engines that meet the
EPA Tier 4 emissions rules," according to the
journal.

Very cool pictures and video.

Sorry I missed the whole post about UC. It
won't take long for you to rebound. I've had
that surgery in both of my knees. Not fun
but there's a lot of worse things, that's
for sure. You'll be back on pasty before you
know it. Feel better!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 - 07:35 pm:

Nice pics & video, what a great outing for Beth and
granddaughter!! And the video... brought back
memories of my cousins and all of us visiting there
many times.

Thanks all, it's painful to walk and it feels like
it could give way at times, but the room service has
been great lol Looking forward to PT and will most
likely need to get the right knee done as well down
the road. Uncle Carl is smiling down on
me...."Charlie getting old ain't for sissies!" lol

Hang in there UC. After my meniscus repair the pain went away after the healing process but the knee has felt less stable. That was 2 years ago. Something else happened last month though. It doesn't make sense, no injury or trauma but now the same knee is swollen with bursitis. I follow up with Dr. in a couple of weeks.

But now to the important news. My daughter in law started labor Monday morning. It's now 36 hours later and it looks like they'll be doing a C-section fairly soon tonight. Looks like my grandson, Rory, will have a very low stress entry into this life. Can't say the same for mamma.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 - 08:58 pm:

That's awesome D.A. Congratulations to all.

And, you can tear that same meniscus twice.
I don't understand that, but I'm pretty sure
mine is torn again. But it comes and goes so
I will just wait.

By D. A. (Midwested) on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 - 11:17 pm:

Rory has entered this life. No further details available yet.
