When I spotted today’s photos snapped by Isaac Diener, my reaction was a big WOW! The Northern Lights were in full swing, dancing over Eagle Harbor this past Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Isaac had this to say about capturing these shots: “What a night!! The Aurora was very vibrant and full of energy!!” I can only imagine what it was like seeing them dance across the sky over Lake Superior like this.
Since we’re already UP North in the Keweenaw, we’re going to join Dr. Nat at Esrey Park for a look at the Lakeshore Traps, some of the last lava flows erupted into the Midcontinent Rift System. Get out a paper and pencil in case you want to take notes.

Just amazing pictures - wish i had been there! And getting a freighter in one of the shots is amazing - perfect timing! Thanks Isaac!
The only thing that could make it better was another class by Dr. Nat! They are always so interesting - makes me want to go find examples of the rock she's educating us about.
If you are on the roads today, be careful out there!

Happy Labor Day, everybody. These pictures are so gorgeous. It seems there are dozens of people posting them on fb today. I never get tired of them.
