Just when I think George C. Bailey cannot top the photos he has shared with us in the past, he comes along with today’s collection that he snapped a week ago during a weather event over the Keweenaw Peninsula. I really like George’s description...“A sunset to the left of me, storms to the right and here I am stuck in the middle with clouds on the north shore of the Keweenaw Peninsula over looking Lake Superior”. I think he’s “stuck” in just the right place, as he sure knows how to live there. George commented that there was a lot of energy movement as the weather front moved just east of them. They missed most of the rain and lightning of the storm, but the sky was very active and contrasty. He sure captured some amazing lighting as the storm went on around them and the sun began to set. You can see more of George’s photography on his Facebook page by clicking here: George C. Bailey
Since we’re already UP North in the Keweenaw, let’s head to Brockway Mountain with the Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau, a part of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, for a look at Brockway Mountain Birding. In early spring, raptors ride the thermals above and around Brockway Mountain, which attracts birding enthusiasts from across the Midwest. Watch and learn why...

I "broke trail" one year on Brockway Mountain. I've
watched Eagles "kettling" up there....it is
phenomenal. Back in the day, working at CCMH, we
took a bunch of folk up there, and some Redtailed
Hawks flew up behind my head...I swear I felt the
wings on the back of my head!
