In order to catch outstanding Aurora photos like these from Isaac Diener, you have to be a bit of a night owl. He captured them at Hebard Park, near Copper Harbor, between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. recently and described them as “jaw dropping”. Each one of the photos tops the last, so I would have to agree wholeheartedly. And capturing these night lights in the sky is not an easy task, unless you know the settings for freezing the lights and colors as Isaac does. The Northern Lights are beautiful when seen dancing across the skies with the naked eye, but the camera “eye” captures colors and brightness we don’t always see with our eyes alone. Stunning indeed!
Another photographer was out recording the Auroras in the late night/early morning hours. Yooper Steve shares a Northern Lights timelapse he videoed with the comment that he was thankful the clouds cleared for a few hours of viewing the dancing and prancing of the solar storm show above the Keweenaw.
