Spring sports season has begun here in the Copper Country, but as you can see in today’s photos from The Official Calumet High School Facebook page, the Copper Kings won’t be practicing on their track or baseball fields for a few weeks yet. The school reported last week, that they still had about 4 feet of snow on the ground, of the 300+ inches that fell this winter season and they haven’t seen their fields yet. Their track team (along with a number of others in the area) are practicing on the roads or in the gym until more melting has occurred. Some schools have even taken to snowblowing the track, I hear. I’m guessing that baseball and softball practices are being held indoors also, with a few events having already taken place indoors at Michigan Tech or Northern Michigan Universities. Spring sports here UP North look quite different than in other parts of the state.
We have a treat from E. Neil Harri, as he shares a video he made of the Eagle River Falls, with a dusting of snow and moving clouds. This is one of those videos that you’re going to want the volume turned UP, so you get the full effect of the roaring waters.

We've been going to take a ride to Eagle River since Friday. Something always comes up. So I think today's the day. Thanks for reminding me.
Hard to believe the snow we still have. Maybe they'll get to have track meets next month. Good grief.
Nice! The classic video is overwhelming...thanks for taking the time to share that scene with us.

LOVE the vid.
Didn't Calumet have to dig out for track before?? Seems it's been on here in the past.

You're right, Donna! Back on April 24, 2018 they cleared it with a snowblower. Check it out here...you have to scroll to see the track photos and there's a video, too: April 24-2018
