After a recent freezing rain storm, we woke up to sparkling trees all around us. With the rising sun, the ice coated branches were lit up with a golden glow. The first three shots here today were taken by Tom Bouwkamp who couldn’t wait for his wife, Barbara to grab her camera, so he snapped away with his phone to capture the scenes in Laurium.
The bottom three shots were taken by Donna MacIntosh in Houghton on the same day. Her pictures captured the sparkle of the ice encased branches with the sun reflecting. Donna’s last photo was the sunrise and reflection in the windows near her home. Just beautiful!
More winter roads in today’s video from Mike Edwards, the man behind Red Jacket Media. Mike said he made this video for all of you who are missing the winters up here in Keweenaw. This was shot heading north on Iroquois Street in Laurium, starting at Lake Linden Avenue and ending at 1st Street. The first few blocks have had their snowbanks cut back. After that, the road gets a bit narrower. It was a bright sunny afternoon with a temperature of 9°F and the snowfall total on the date of recording this was 265 inches. This morning it’s 284.5 inches.

My grandparents lived on Iroquois street many years ago anyone remember Ed and Liz Dimmer? They adopted my mom back in the 30’s.

These are some beautiful pictures. My favorite is the last one but they're all gorgeous.
Can't watch driving kinds of videos. I get so sick to my stomach you'd swear I was in the car.
