Laurie Bashaw and her hubby, Ed are always doing something adventurous. You could say they don’t let moss grow under their feet, not that it could in the winter months anyway. They recently headed to the McMillan/Newberry area to take advantage of the Christmas gift Laurie bought for Ed. A sled dog adventure at Nature’s Kennel. They have various adventure packages, but Laurie and Ed chose the 10 mile ride, with both of them riding in the same sled. She said the scenery was beautiful and it took around 2 hours, with a break half way through to stretch their legs. The Kennel is open from December thru April, with a 10 mile and a 20 mile ride which includes a pasty lunch and even an overnight adventure with a stay in a cabin or yurt. Some of the dogs are experienced Iditarod Veterans, so they know their stuff when it comes to pulling a sled. What a great experience!
906 Outdoors has an episode from last February about Nature’s Kennel with all kinds of information about them and their adventures. It also covers cross country skiing at the Maasto Hiito trails in Hancock. Settle in for an interesting program!
