Today’s photos from two different photographers, had me humming the tune, By the Light of the Silvery Moon. Jeff Dennis is our first cameraman, with photos he snapped out at Little Traverse with his daughter and their pup, Fritz. The reflections in all three of his shots are nothing less than amazing to the eyes.

Then Mandy Cadwell gets in on the act with three photos she took at her happy place. Her farm. The first two shots show perfect serenity and why Mandy feels it is her happy place. You can feel the calm and quiet in those photos. And check out the moon shot...I think I can see the man in the moon, can you?

We’re joining Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula for a view from Elmo’s Tower in Phoenix. Their description says: “Many have sighted Elmo's Tower from US-41, but have you ever had the reverse perspective? Fall deepens and we find beloved views like the Phoenix Church made even richer.” Couldn’t have said it better.

Spectacular photos. I really have to learn
how to take nighttime pictures.
And I loved the video. I believe we could
see Elmo's tower from the top of Mt Bohemia.
Beautiful pictures and video.

How beautiful...all of them, and that video is
amazing. Can anyone go up in Elmo's Tower? (I
can't....but can other folks?) What a gorgeous
view. wow.

Spectacular shots today!

When we were up in summer, I asked if I could explore the Phoenix Mine piles. I was told because there was a caved-in shaft and unstable ground that the entire area was closed off on the recommendation of the Keweenaw County mine inspector. With that said, I doubt anyone could get to Elmo's Tower without possibly getting into some kind of trouble/danger these days...

We actually covered the building of Elmo's tower on the Pasty Cam, back in September 1998. It was blown over in a windstorm in October that year, and eventually after he rebuilt it, we visited inside, with Elmo's permission. There's a good reference page in Cam Notes back on Nov 3 of 2003. Unfortunately, 1998 was before cell phones with cameras, otherwise I would have made a video. What a magnificent view :)

Elmo lived "off the grid" at his wind-powered home up at the end of Phoenix Farms road. He passed away in 2007, and there's a nice write-up about Elmo on the Find-a-grave website.

Over the years, the quality and subject matter of
the photos just keeps getting better and better.
And the video is definitely FULL-SCREEN quality.
