In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. If you’ve ever driven by the CLK Schools in Calumet, you’ve probably noticed the huge flag they have waving in the wind every day. Debbie Jarve, of Debbie Jarve Photography, snapped this photo, which I thought was perfect to commemorate Flag Day here on the Pasty Cam.
To round out the day, we have a couple photos that Walter Dennis took with his drone, flying it around Lake Linden. First photo is looking at St. Joseph Church in Lake Linden and behind it the LLHS Warner Football Field. You can also see a portion of Torch Lake, which is unofficially referred to as “Warner’s Pond”, behind the football field. The second photo shows the Lake Linden-Hubbell High School buildings and surrounding area. It looks neat with the lights just coming on at dusk like that.
Our video comes from WJMN Local 3, about a past Flag Day and how the Veterans in Greenwood commemorate the day, by properly disposing of damaged flags. If your flag is starting to fray or unravel, you should replace it. Damaged flags can be retired by bringing them to an American Legion or VFW Post where they regularly hold flag retirement ceremonies like the video shows. It is considered improper to dispose of a flag privately, without the proper respect a retirement ceremony provides.
Fly your Flag proudly!

Nice church. I always thought it was forbidden to
burn a flag, but I guess not in a case like this.

In fact that is the preferred method, as prescribed by the U.S.Flag Code!
Quote:The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed, preferably by burning.
