Mount Baldy, also known as Lookout Mountain, is a three mile, uphill hike to the top, making it a six mile round trip. Eric Byykkonen and family made a springtime hike recently and by doing so this time of year, they probably beat the bugs, because they’ve been out in droves here the last few days. The views from the top, 730 feet above Lake Superior, are nothing short of breathtaking, even this time of year when the landscape is still gray and just beginning to wake up from the winter months. You can see far across the Big Lake and if the conditions are just right, I think you can even spot Isle Royale out there. Of course you can see Eagle Harbor, too, along with Lake Bailey. The following link provides much more information about the preserve, including why it’s considered a “northern bald”. Check it out: Mount Baldy.
Lisa and Randy, from Keweenaw Peninsiula is our Home share a video featuring the top of another Keweenaw mountain, Brockway, along with other views around the Copper Harbor area.

Beautiful views - a great Spring time hike!
Our hearts go out to Calumet and to all those battling and effected by the fire. Praying no one is hurt and all the people who lost businesses and buildings are insured.
