I found the following information online about today’s photo subject: “The Peshekee River is a 31.1-mile-long river in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is a tributary of Lake Michigamme, and its waters flow via the Michigamme River and the Menominee River to Lake Michigan.”
Nancy Haun was on the banks of the Peshekee recently and reports the following to accompany her photos:
The Peshekee was high and flowing fast and the rain was coming down. Not a good day at all for photos. Sometimes when we are out exploring, we stop somewhere and I go for a mini adventure. I took the opportunity the other day, to go for a short hike up the hill at Martins Landing. It was very slippery but beautiful as that whole area is. Next time I will go to the top (it is a steep climb up steps), I bet the view is awesome!
I’m guessing that we’ll be seeing that view from Nancy in the not so distant future. Maybe when the ground dries up from all the rain/snow we’ve been having lately.
We have a video from Charles Owen with a Peshekee River Adventure to give you another look at this remote river in the UP.
