Beth Jukuri and her granddaughter had a fun adventure to McLain State Park last week and said it was a gorgeous night to be by Lake Superior, with the ice and sunset so cool together. They spent three hours there, enjoying the fresh air, climbing, rock hunting, ice playing and sunset watching. Beth added that they had a great night and her granddaughter fell asleep on the way home. Once they got there, she put her pajamas on and climbed into bed. How is that for some beautiful memories made with her Grandma. What a gift Beth gives to her granddaughter every time she takes her out on adventures. Instilling a lifelong love of nature and being outdoors.

We’re heading east to Whitefish Bay with Frances Czapski of Photography by Frances, to enjoy the peace and quiet there before sunrise. The waves slowly rolling in, splashing against the ice that was still on the shoreline makes an amazing sound. The freighter in the background is a bonus!

We old Coast Guardsmen sure had some excellent times at McLain, as it is right alongside the old CG station Portage at upper entry. Best part was -- after several more Pabsts than we should have consumed, we didn't have to drive anywhere! Sure met a lot of nice girls from Calumet and Laurium there too. Miss those days!
