There has been a plethora of Aurora/Northern Lights in the skies the past two weeks. It’s been quite the light show for sure. Today we get a look at some different night light photos from Jeremy Rowe over at Keweenaw Night Sky Photography. Jeremy said he took these in Eagle Harbor, the night after one of the big Aurora shows.

He called it Zodiacal light and said it was making it’s bi-annual appearance. I had to look that one up... ”Zodiacal light is a faint, diffuse and roughly triangular white glow that is visible in the night sky and appears to extend from the Sun’s direction and along the zodiac, straddling the ecliptic. Sunlight Scattered by interplanetary dust causes this phenomenon. It is also called false dawn when seen before sunrise.”

Jeremy also added that the ice on the lake was compressing and popping so loud that it was echoing off the hills and that it was one of the coolest nights of shooting in a long time, even though the auroras were faint. The hockey sticks were props he had in his truck, so the guys decided to take some hockey photos for their mom’s to pin on their jackets. Such thoughtful young men. Nice that the dogs got in on the photo shoot as well.

Devin DeBoer shares a video of a weekend in the U.P., ice climbing frozen waterfalls and sleeping under the stars in the snow, with the Makinac Bridge and Island as their bed time view.

FOOTNOTE: Yesterday's photos from Jean Dessellier had some beautiful, up-close bird shots in them. If you missed yesterday's Pasty Cam, just click here: March 24th, to take a look at them!

Unreal pix and video! I can't even imagine what
that must feel like standing under those stars.

The beauty of the night skies is just spectacular
to say the least. I remember UP summers and
seeing all the stars when I was at my cousin's
camp grounds. So many stars that lit up the sky
and hearing the waves washing over the rocks was
quieting to your soul. Great memories!!!

Hi
It sounds like a spectacular evening. Is the one
dog a malamute?

By Donna (Donna) on Thursday, March 25, 2021 - 06:03 pm:

We did see stars like that while out waiting for
the Northern Lights. I melted before the lites came
out...so we missed them. sniff. But the
stars....HOLY WHA!!!

Doesn't it look like the Milky Way in the first
pic?
