What to do on a mild winter day in the Keweenaw? Hmm, how about head to Copper Harbor for a walk around to see the harbor and whether it’s iced in or not? That’s what Chris Gariepy and his family did this past Sunday and he snapped a few photos to share with us all. Looks like there’s just a smattering of ice in the harbor by the Sixth Street Dock and Boardwalk area, with the dock a bit snow-covered, too. This is one of my favorite spots in Copper Harbor, it’s great for kayaking around without worrying about being run over by a power boat. Not that any boating or kayaking are going on this time of year. Over closer to the Isle Royale Queen side of this portion of the harbor, Chris found some interesting ice, which leads me to believe there may have been more ice earlier and then it broke up and floated into coves like the one in the third photo.

In The Keweenaw shares a “January Blues” video, featuring a number of sights around Copper Harbor, from the air. We’ll be on the west end of Brockway Mountain Drive, looking east and then fly over the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, too.

George L.; do you use a syringe needle or a syringe pump? I prefer an IV drip myself.
Good luck today UC! I will be waiting awhile until things settle down before I get mine. My issue is the wait-time, unfortunately I can't wait in line for long periods.

Alex, the IV drip works best by far. Easier to maintain a nice, even buzz.
UC, do let us know how you did this morning. Somehow, whenever I get an injection, the needle always seems to have a big square tip!

I received the Moderna this morning, wait wasn't
too bad and no side effects. I hear the second dose
is not so easy and tylenol should be taken right
after the second shot....vaccine guys!! :=))

I was fortunate to get my first dose this past Tuesday. It was the first offering of 1000 doses in my county for the 1B group. It was a first come, first served, get in line in your car. They opened at 9am but I was there are 4am and was 25th in line. By 9am there was a very uncontrolled, unsupervised line of cars behind me that extended for 2 miles.

It's quite unclear now, how, and when and even if I'll be able to get the 2nd dose on schedule. The CDC just yesterday changed the "science" by saying the 2nd dose can wait 6 weeks. Funny how that science stuff just changed. Oh well, 50% immunity or maybe even better is certainly preferred compared to where I was.

The new rules this week are to release more vaccine rather than hold back enough for the 2nd doses. I am so glad more and more people are getting it. Of course, the concern is if the 2nd dose happens way late, will people get to that 95% (or close) immunity that was originally promised.

Greta, I think UC, Alex and I have become the unofficial, unsung heroes of comedic relief here on the pasty site. Alex, you're spot on, too -- also for me, humor has always been a way of coping with whatever might darken the skies. And yes, getting a daily chuckle is a bright moment . . . and even better, being able to give a chuckle to others makes my day.
