From day to day, you never know if Lake Superior it going to be calm or all riled up. Barbara Bouwkamp was out at Big Traverse recently, when the waves were rolling in quite steadily. She snapped the first photo at the boat launch, showing the ice only partway filling the area there. Barb said that water was coming over the breakwall again. It doesn’t look like that’s the case in her top photo, but when you check out the other two, you can see why that was happening. Her description was that the Big Lake was crazy wild and roaring. She also mentioned that the waves had gobbled up a few feet of the beach that day.
Just a little further down the beach, around Louie’s Point, Jeff Dennis captured the wave action at Little Traverse. Putting the video in slow motion like he did, gives you the time to see the wave cresting and rolling, which I thought was a pretty neat perspective!

Nice, but I must be getting anxious for Spring, because I pictured all of these with sunshine, blue skies, blue waters and warm sandy beeches.

Just a thought.. When a minister rehearses his sermon, you could say he's practicing what he preaches....
