For those of you that don’t live here in the Keweenaw, getting snow this many days in a row in October is unusual. We often will get a day here and there with snow, maybe even a bit of accumulation, but this is November weather, the kind the hunters like for tracking and better sighting in the white colored woods. There’s not much we can do about it, other than try to enjoy the beauty of it (and hope that it tapers off, to give us a break for a few more weeks).
Today’s photos are from Brita Haapala, over at Brita Caroline Photography. Brita has a way with words, so I’m going to quote what she herself said about these beauties, plus a bonus for photography buffs, she lets us know a bit about her settings:
“The evening was touched with fresh snow magic, so I went out with my camera. I took pictures until it was completely dark out. At the end, my ISO was set at 12800, and my fstop was at 1.4.”
So beautiful and so fleeting, as this time of year it comes quickly and melts away just as quickly.
Brita also captured her “Yooper Poikas (Finnish for boy/son)” with the joy of being kids, trying to capture snowflakes on their tongue and in their hands. Next snowfall, let’s all go outside and try to catch some snowflakes!
