Before you ask, yes, these photos are current as of a week ago today. It is actually quite surprising that we still have this much snow on the ground here in the Keweenaw at the end of March. Barbara Bouwkamp took these photos on the streets in Laurium, showing the snowbanks piled high and also the beautiful architecture of some of the old homes there, too. Check out the sidewalk path to the house in the second photo. Just imagine the muscles you’d build up by the end of winter, throwing the snow up over the banks to keep the path open.
Today’s video clip is one put together about the Village of Laurium as a submission for the HGTV Home Town Takeover Contest, for a chance at getting a makeover for the town. I don’t know much more about the contest, except that submissions are being reviewed for this new spin-off show for 2021. The video was put together by Madison Teddy, Amy Schneiderhan, and Mike Edwards.

Good luck Laurium!! That would be outstanding if they came all the way UP to show off all the beautiful buildings there.
