Sharon Bodenus, of Upper Peninsula Photography, had a neat opportunity to photograph some Trumpeter Swans in the Chatham area. Her sister took her there, on what Sharon said was a very dreary day, but the lighting worked great for her photos. She added that the swans were so beautiful to see and photograph and the proof is in these shots here today. Interesting that the juvenile swans in the third shot have that pinkish coloring on the beak, which changes all to black, as their feathers change all to white when they mature. I’m glad they have found some open water to stay here in the U.P. for a time.
No video of swans, today, but Sharon has a good video from a couple years ago, of some “pancake ice” in Marquette. It’s kind of mesmerizing, watching those pods of ice floating back and forth. The sounds is great, too!

What beautiful details in the feathers of the swans!
And the floating ice looks more like doughnuts!
