When Nancy Haun hears a train clickety-clacking down the tracks, she grabs her camera and scrambles for a good position to snap photos and maybe even get a video if she’s lucky. Last week she spotted the CN 5475 as it was crossing the Falls River in L’Anse and captured the first shot. Her second shot with the turkeys on the tracks, was snapped in Bovine, south of L’Anse, as Nancy was waiting for the 5475 and 5483 to head up the Herman Hill. She said she was surprised to see these three dots on the track and when she zoomed in she saw it was Turkeys. That is L'Anse off in the distance! Nancy’s third photo shows the train crossing the highway, where it will begin the climb up the infamous Herman Hill. Looks like she’s been pretty lucky lately being in the right place at the right time.

She had perfect timing for this video, too. Nancy said she thought she heard a train as she rounded the corner by Burger King in L’Anse, so she pulled over quickly by the tracks, hopped out of her car and scramble over to the tracks with no boots or gloves... brrrr. She said she was standing on the edge of a snowbank, to get one of her favorite views and added that someday she will use a tripod and get a non-shakey video, but for now, she’s always on the run, shooting videos and enjoying every minute of it, whistle blowing and all!

Buyer beware: I had a meal from Burger King in L’Anse years ago and I was stuck in my hotel room for 4 days with food poisoning...coming out of every orifice possible. Those were the days of the Wing...we both wept profusely.

Nice pics and video!

Alex, had to be one in a million, hope the hotel brought you
Gatorade and looked after you! In my travels, I’ve found that
BK to be one of the better ones!

I'm right there with you Alex. The worst food poisoning I've ever had was due to a grilled burger.

Still love the trains.

Calumet BK also does a very good job, friendly and they take pride in their work!

I wasn't implying BK.
I was at a neighborhood bar & grill.

The train video is really nice, reminds me of one of my favorite tunes, Bob Seger's, "Long Twin Silver Line"....
"She's got the finest fastest pulling twin diesels
She's got ninety-three cars in tow
She's gonna be on time
All the way down the line
Come the rain hail sleet or snow"

Google it, it will get your toe's a tappin! What an influence this man's music had on my life, truly a living legend!!

D.A.- I was referring to Alex's original comment about BK, my point was that the restaurants/fast food and people in the U.P. really take pride in their work, in SE MI....it's a gamble at best!

BTW...it was a double-beef Whooper which may have been undercooked. I've never experienced that before and I've downed many a Whooper.

I love my beef "undercooked", but since the hamburger incident I only eat undercooked burgers if know the butcher and chef very well.
