Predicting the peak of the color season here UP North is always a guessing game, which actually depends on where in the U.P., even where in the Keweenaw, you are. Today’s photos were taken last week, by Melody Provost Holmes from various spots in the Keweenaw. You can see in her first photo, the color is just beginning to come out, but then her second and third shots are much more colorful. It seems that the closer you get to Lake Superior and the tip of the Keweenaw, the later the colors develop. I know it’s all scientific and has to do with the moisture, the temperatures and other variables, but it sure would be nice to be able to say just when the peak colors will be.

Today Michigan Tech’s video helicopter color tour is a reminder to get out there and enjoy the fall, enjoy the cooler temperatures and take in the developing colors.

Beautiful pictures. Last week when we were
there it depended on where you were. There
were some nice orange trees up on my mom's
hill. Other places it was just green (but I
love green so it's ok). Our rides up a couple
of the mountains showed the color was starting.
When we planned the trip, that was predicted to
be peak. But that's ok. It was beautiful no
matter what.

I agree with all 3 of my pals, Deb, Alex and Jbuck!! Just beautiful!! Really need to get U.P. for a relaxing (Temporarily Retired) color tour!! Left my stressful job, my company had lost so many national contracts, it was time to get out! Looking to do something with a little less travel (I really don't want to cover Ohio) and stay in Pure MI! Tim Allen take me away, lmao!
