In the early morning hours last week, George C. Bailey was outdoors with his camera ready to capture the spectacular light show that the Aurora Borealis was putting on in Eagle Harbor Township. The lights were dancing across the sky creating magical colors in the night. George said he didn’t even see the meteor streaking across the sky in his first shot, until later when he looked at his photo. He described his second shot as “this diamond ring”. Good title, since the Northern Lights are definitely diamonds in the sky and they formed a ring quite nicely.
We’ve seen today’s video before, and so have 142,000+ others, one of the most viewed U.P. videos we’ve featured lately. Actually filmed on the mitten side of the bridge, Lake Superior Photo’s view back toward Saint Ignace is interesting to watch again and again.

What Donna said. Beautiful! We were going to go and sit up at Copper Harbor one night while we were there just to see those lights. We never made it.
