The Herbert C. Jackson was recently in Marquette Harbor and Danielle Adams was able to just catch it as it was beginning to pull out from the Ore Dock. She knew they were in port, so she hurried there after work and before she headed to church. In that short time, she captured a couple nice shots of the Jackson getting under way.
I had hoped maybe Danielle had taken a video to share, too, but she said she didn’t have enough time that day. So instead, we have one of the Herbert C. Jackson leaving the MacArthur Lock at the Soo, from a little earlier this year and published by Boat Watching in the Soo. Someone commented on the video, saying that the piloting of these big boats amazes him, as he said he still struggles to dock a 16 footer. I’d have to concur with him on that statement.

The new locks will take care of the big boats.

Wonder if they are being loaded heavier with all the high water this year.
