The Portage Lake Lift Bridge is often referred to as the “Gateway to the Keweenaw”, and that it truly is, as it’s the only access to the “island” we live on, once you cross over the bridge. Barbara Bouwkamp has been out with her camera lately and captured this bridge shot as dusk was turning into night. Beautiful.
The second shot, Barbara titled, “Train Tracks to Somewhere, North of Nowhere”. I like that. It lets your imagination place where they are and where they’re going, with the sun setting off in the distance inviting you to keep going on your journey.
The train tracks got me in a choo-choo mood, so I did some digging and came up with a train video published two years ago, by Trains – U.P. of Michigan. This was recorded in East Kingsford at a rural, neighborhood crossing.

Wow! That's a lot of Scott's TP...excites the ole sphincter and makes me want to sit on the throne as we speak.
