Melanie Hakala Rossi and her snowshoeing friends were out on an adventure Sunday and for part of their trek along this bluff, it looks like they didn’t need their snowshoes. Some of the group shed their jackets and vests, too, so you know the temperatures are warming here in the Keweenaw. Melanie said this bluff doesn’t have a name, but is between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor, with Brockway Mountain in the background.

In her second photo, you can see the white of the ice still on Lake Superior off in the distance, so the illusion of the first photo having no snow, is shattered with that glimpse of white still out there.

Today’s video excursion takes us to the Porcupine Mountain State Park in the Spring of 2015, with “FunInTheUP”. We’re taking a hike along the Union Spring Trail.

There was one bluff in that area we called Mt. Baldy because it had a nearly bare windswept tree-line on top. Got awfully icy up top when we cross country skied on it.
