A sure sign of spring here UP North is when we start seeing birds migrating again. Sharon Bodenus of Upper Peninsula Photography spotted some returning feathered friends recently in the Marquette/Gwinn area. Two Sandhill Cranes, which she said were starting a mating dance of some sort, but as soon as they saw her, they stopped. Then she captured a Great Blue Heron in flight, too. Sharon felt they weren’t the best shots, because she had her long lens and said there was some camera shake because of it, but I think they’re great shots of some interesting large birds that are back in the U.P. until fall.
Our video is an interesting rescue of a Great Blue Heron who had a fishing lure stuck in its beak, with the line wrapped around, so it couldn’t eat or drink. Check it out and let it be a reminder to not leave “trash” like this around that can harm the wildlife.

I love running into Sandhill Cranes.
Their at their best when they start squawking.
You'd swear you're in a Jurassic Park movie.
Time to start planning a Spring waterfall trip.
I need to get my newly found heart arrhythmia treated first. They say it's no biggie, with a simple catheterization procedure. They cauterize a tiny portion of the atrium to stop the flutter. To me it sounds like they are creating a micro-heart attack.

D. A. (Midwested),
All the best with your procedure! It's amazing how fine tuned they become on a procedure like that so that it ISN'T any big deal. Glad they found it and are correcting it quickly. Take care of yourself!
