If you haven’t been out to Freda lately, you’ll be surprised by today’s photos from Joe Kirkish. He took a ride out that way recently and found that the “Covered Road” is indeed covered...with snow of course. And due to the storms we’ve had lately, the snowbanks along the way have made the road almost tunnel-like, not to mention quite narrow. It looks like it would be a tight squeeze for two cars to pass by each other for sure.
We’re heading to Houghton for our video excursion today. Dan Cunningham made this clip of the City of Houghton SnoGo cutting back the snowbanks on his street. This was actually a month ago, so imagine a couple more feet of snow has fallen since this clearing was done. Spring, where are you?

May not break the record totals this year but it sure has been concentrated in a much shorter time period than usual. There are places on the Covered Road that don't qualify as two lanes in the middle of the Summer. Too much snow in some places to even snow mobile. Warming trends look to be just around the corner though. Let's get ready for some record flooding now?

I agree D. A. (Midwested)! At least with our truck there was no passing anyone at some places even in the Summer.
Happy St. Urho's Day Pasty Camers!
