Fritz is out and about in the Keweenaw winter again, although this time he’s not divulging where in the Copper Country he and Jeff Dennis went to find this wall of ice. It’s similar to the Redridge ice cliffs from Wednesday’s Pasty Cam, but that’s not where they are and you can forget it if you think Fritz will spill the beans. Wherever they are, it’s a beautiful scene!

Jeff takes us out to Little Traverse to check out the deer population on the shores of Lake Superior. They look to be quite comfortable enjoying the winter on the beach. The deer herd UP near the shores of the Big Lake, because normally less snow accumulates around bodies of water. Until this past week, we were still feeding about 8 – 10 deer across the road from our home, but with the amount of snow we received last week, they have decided to head for the deer yards out that way, we’re guessing. Who knows, maybe the deer in Jeff’s photos are some of those we have been giving supplemental feed to help them through the winter. I hope so, anyway.

Fred Koski, over at Fred Koski Photography had an interesting early morning, visitor on his game camera at Three Lakes recently. It looks to be a curious Pine Marten, snooping around in the snow.

Fritz is on the move again. It's
really hard to believe how much
ice there is out there. It's
really amazing.

I really love the deer pictures.
At first glance, I thought thy one
deer was buried and wondered why
the others weren't, lol. Then I
realized it was just taking a nap.
They're such beautiful animals.

There's our little mascot...adding ice climbing to
his resume. lol

Throw out a bale of straw...you'll have the deer
sleeping over! One year, I threw out hay and
apparently straw. The hay went. The straw got
slept in. Quite a bit too...and it gives you a
good feeling....like you are being protected by
God's creatures.

And the deer aren't dancing...they are doing
battle over who gets the corn. Corn is like candy
to deer. I was so blessed to feed critters and
birds as long as I did....but nothing is allowed
here.

What a great set of pics! It looks like Fritz
had Jeff gear up so they could go out for
another adventure. And Fritz looks rather
proud of himself standing in front of those
icicles. Check another one off the Bucket
List, Fritz!
The deer pics are amazing too. How did
Jeff get that close?
Nice video too! It looks like Marten has
been that way before, judging by the
worn trail that it’s on.
Good stuff…thanks to the contributors!

BTW…I heard a Crow this morning…they’re back.
Spring is 26 days away!
