Beth Jukuri and the ladies from the Wind (Women In New Directions group headed out on a brutally cold evening last week, for a beach walk at McLain State Park. The windchill was below zero, making it refreshing, beautiful and so worth it. Beth added that “they” say there is no bad weather, just bad choices in how you dress and that if you dress for it, you are okay. She said they were all actually warm as they kept moving for the 2.2 miles they hiked on the snowy/icy beach. Their reward was the outstanding sunset on the shores of Lake Superior.

We have another “Crossing Place” video today from Visit Keweenaw – Shaping Memories from Snow and Ice – Michigan Tech Winter Carnival. The lead in to the video says: “The Winter Carnival at Michigan Technological University is more than just an event—it’s a tradition that has brought generations of MTU Huskies and Copper Country locals together for over 100 years. Run by the Blue Key National Honor Society, this celebration of snow, ice, and community invites students and visitors alike to take part in building impressive snow statues, exploring stunning ice sculptures, and enjoying the chilly fun of outdoor sports. With its wide array of events, communities bustling with Carnival spirit, and access to the great Copper Country outdoors - Winter Carnival offers something for everyone, making it the perfect reason to plan a winter trip to the Keweenaw!”

I just can't pick a favorite here.
They're all so gorgeous. The and
pattern is very cool, but you just
can't go wrong with sunset
pictures. Nice job.

Nice! I had trouble trying to figure out
the first pic; It looks like one of the Ladies
is carrying something like a surfboard or
is it just a bare spot in the snow behind her?

Pics at McLain sure remind me of lovely summer nights spent on that beach many years ago.
Nice video, hope the weather cooperates for this year's MTU snow sculpts. Can't wait to see them!

HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY!
FINALLY Yesterday.
It is what it is.

Hi
I heard a shorter version of what Beth said: "There
is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing". Her
version is clearer, though. And it's true that if
you exert yourself you stay warm.

Alec, that was my first impression, but I think it's
a dark hollow.

Beth has a real knack for capturing Nature.

When those Sand Patterns are examined at a closer level, it's really produced by what science literally calls "chaos". How can chaos be so beautiful?
