Horses and other outdoor animals don’t seem to mind the winter weather and when it gets frigid and windy, they have shelters or barns to take refuge in. Today’s first shot was snapped by Michelle Reed at Mandy Cadwell’s farm. Those are both their “babies”, along with some other folks horses that live there, too. I absolutely love the contrasts in this photo, the dark sky, the white snow and the different color coats on the horses splitting the two colors apart. The second photo of the line-up of horses and donkeys eating their lunch was snapped by Mandy herself. Nice how they’re lined up and eating so nicely with no one trying to horn in on their neighbor’s feed. I wonder if they’re always this well behaved at dinnertime?
The bottom photo was also taken by Mandy. Those are what she calls, her snowbunnies and when I first looked at the photo, I thought there were bunnies and ducks there, but nope, just ducks who all seem to be enjoying the “snowbathing”. I imagine their down feathers keep them warm, just as they keep them dry while in the water. Nature always adapts critters for the weather, with longer, thicker coats or feathers that insulate them, it’s quite spectacular how that all works out!
We Love Animals shares a video that highlights the joy of the connections that can be made with animals and just how smart some of these critters really are. This one will put a happy smile on your face!

Love the pictures of the horses! I feed all 12 of
mine the same way along the fence line. I wish we
had that snow cover!

Beautiful horses. Cool the way
they line up to eat like that. If
only other species were so polite,
lol.
