Cindy Lou (HI LOU!) “sprung” Donna MacIntosh again recently, for an early morning appointment. She said it had been a while since she had seen a sunrise and this one was beauty. After her appointment the pair of ladies did a bit of touring, stopping at the Lily Pond to check out the boat launch. Things were quiet there with barely a ripple in the water.

The photo of the salt piles sure looks like small mountains. Donna relayed that Cindy said those piles are this year’s rust. She’s probably right with that remark, as road salt wreaks havoc on our vehicles. They ended their drive for this day at McLain Park. With school in full session again, it was pretty quiet there also. Even Lake Superior was looking pretty calm that day. That’s all folks, until the next time Donna gets “sprung” from her “cell” (apartment).

Today’s bear antics are quite fun to watch. He’s determined to figure out how to get in that hammock, but the balancing act proves to be too much for him in the end. The video is courtesy of SWNS Media.

Neat-o pix, Donna! I’m always glad to
see you getting out and about.
The salt piles look like coal???
I’m used to seeing white salt.
The bear is probably looking for
a comfortable spot to hibernate
for the winter, but it may get a little
crowded with cubs…a Three Stooges
comedy scene .

Ya gotta wonder if bears sometimes do things just for the helluvit. That was entertianing!
Speaking of road salt they stopped using a mix of salt and sand on the highways and other state roads here in CT several years ago. They now pre-treat those roads just before snowstorms by spraying on a liquid containing magnesium chloride. It does even more damage to vehicles than regular road salt....it destroys brake lines, frames, brake rotors and more. I'd prefer the salt and sand mix any day.

By Donna (Donna) on Monday, September 16, 2024 - 11:07 am:

They tried that liquid here...thank God they went
back to plain old salt. The driver's side of the
vehicle rusts more than the passenger's side,
because the driver's on the other side of the
road, throw their salt to the other side, so
there's more salt in the middle part of the road.

On another note....it is SOOOOOOOOOO fabulous to
get out of here...thank you Cindy Lou! The sun
rise was phenomenal...the smoke from the wildfires
helped the beauty.

And thanks Alex...I'm thrilled too...Anytime to
leave this Cell is a good time!

McClain's is eroding...that's why all the rock is
piled there...

I love that vid!

Great pictures, Donna. Thanks for
getting sprung! Thanks, Cindy

Loved watching that bear,
especially since it wasn't on my
deck.

GREAT PICS DONA & CINDY LOU!! Thanks for sharing and
I'm also glad to see that you're able to be
"sprung".

The video is a hoot and entertaining like George
stated. Kinda reminds me if I were to try Vic's
hammock, let's just say, it wouldn't be pretty, but
it definitely would be comical. lol

Kind of a spooky looking sunrise - maybe the wildfires are making it look that way. Nice day to be out & about. I didn't remember the salt piles being dark either! Always thought the traction was better back in the day when they used mine tailings with the salt - the streets of Marquette were pink after a big storm.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, September 16, 2024 - 11:56 pm:

I agree Jbuck, and it worked too. That salt looks
like coal or ore from the upper harbor in Marquette.
I didn't think it was salt until I started reading
some of the posts.

I hope all is well with you Julie and life is
getting better for you, we all hope that.

I always look at the Sunday pic & posts wondering
when I made my first post?? lol weird right...
