Diane Richard was out and about finding some Natural Beauty to share with us. If I hadn’t mentioned Alberta in the photo titles, would you have known where Lake Plumbago is? I know you know where Lake Superior is and the natural beauty that follows her shoreline and if you’ve driven on US41, you’ve driven by Lake Plumbago many times. The DNR refers to it as Alberta Pond and is a 16 acre pond, stocked with 7-8 inch brook trout in the spring and 18-20 inch adult brook trout in the fall. This Lake/Pond was created when Henry Ford established the Sawmill back in 1936, on the banks of Plumbago Creek, which they dammed to provide a reservoir to serve the town and the mill’s water supply needs.

The bottom two photos Diane shares here today, were snapped somewhere around Keweenaw Bay, showing off the Natural Beauty of our beautiful Lake Superior. A much different lake than the man-made one at Alberta and much larger, yet both lakes have a beauty all their own. We are truly blessed here in the U.P. that we just have to walk out our back door and the beauty is there.

As a side-note...the following link from TV6. will give you a listing of the 4th of July festivities around the U.P.: Upper Michigan 4th of July Festivites

We take in more U.P. beauty with a solo adventure by Brian from Brian & Heather Outdoors, for a paddle in his new solo swift canoe to portage from Craig Lake to Crooked Lake at Craig Lake State Park.

Can definitely confirm there are brookies in that pond as Nat and I both caught a couple last year.

Yes it is, Donna! You can just barely see
the FORD on the other bank in these shots!

Beautiful pictures. I love the
reflection in the water. Some day,
we will have to go there.

Beautiful pics & video. I've driven by the Alberta
Pond hundreds of times, just like everyone else. I
did go by it once and was amazed to see it totally
drained for some reason. Was I the only one
wondering if Brian had a lifejacket or floatation
device? lol When he was carrying the canoe and his
gear, I was thinking, now that's dedication! Nice
Rubicon Jeep eh- Paul?? Pic's 4 & 5 look suitable
for framing!!
