We’re doing some train watching today, with Nancy Haun. She starts out near the Spurr River, watching the Canadian National passing by, reflecting in the water, too. But Nancy isn’t the only railfan there viewing the passing train. If you look closely in her first photo, you can see something in the water, in the reflection of the trees. Nancy’s second shot shows you what that is, a turtle on the submerged wood there and it seems to be watching the train, too. What a great reflection shot that one is!

Then Nancy takes us to Partridge at Goose Lake for a double Canadian National photo. She said that one of the two trains is a local that comes here and the other one comes from Gladstone with cars for the local train to bring here and to Ishpeming. Neat to catch them there together like this.

And finally, there’s just something about Nancy’s bottom photo that really intrigues me. Maybe because she didn’t elaborate on it much, except to say it’s the rails at Gravel Lake. Makes it seem a bit mysterious as the rails go on out of sight, so you aren’t really sure where they’re going. Whatever it is, it would be a great shot to have hanging on your wall.

Nancy’s video shows a few clips from her adventures recently with the Dault’s Creek crossing, Nestoria, Spurr River (don’t forget to look for that turtle on the submerged wood) and the Peshekee. Enjoy!

Nice set, Nancy! I really like the third shot,
it looks like a crazy monster truck race.
And I wonder how many train-hoppers
there are hitching a free ride on those trains.

As soon as I opened the page I
knew we were going to get a treat
from Nancy. Hard to pick a
favorite, but I really do love
that last one. I thought of Nancy
on our way home from Marquette on
Wednesday. I saw one of her
Canadian Nationals. I always
associate Nancy with those trains.

Very nice pics, looks like the turtle is getting a
little sun as well. I'm with Alex, I like the third
pic, it looks like they're playing chicken to see
who gets to the other set of tracks first.

Hey, that's some of my old stomping grounds! Right on the way to Palmer where my friend is from. That IS cool to see the 2 trains together.
