Jeff, Chris and Fritz Dennis took a drive to the shores of Big Bay de Noc on Lake Michigan for a quiet tour of Fayette Historic State Park. From the look in their photos, they had the place to themselves this time of year and enjoyed exploring the historic buildings and remnants of this once bustling industrial community. Between 1867 and 1891 charcoal pig iron was manufactured here at the tip of the Garden Peninsula and those buildings still standing have been there for 150 years, so we can learn about life during the 19th century.

It’s always fun to see how the Dennis family incorporates Fritz in the photos of their explorations. My favorite of today’s array, is the fifth photo with Jeff and Fritz on the historic wagon. Jeff did this one in black and white to bring it back to a late 1800’s look and asked, “What century is this?” Then the next photo shows Fritz with the wagon and building in present time again.

Jeff’s video short from that day, gives us a look at the buildings, reflections in the water and the 90 foot limestone cliffs off in the distance.

I'm jealous of Fritz! He's seen more places in the UP than I ever did. I love the adventures he takes his family on.

That's such a cool place. I loved
it when we went there. I'm sure
Fritz loved it too. Nice
pictures!

Fritz in pic #1: I’m not pulling this cart
one more inch until I get my Snausages.
Fritz in pic #5 hasn’t changed in 150 years,
he’s still black and white.
Fayette was always a very nice place to
visit. Not just because of the park, but
the cruise down the peninsula on the bike
to Fairport was a great ride.

So, so awesome. I love their adventures, and Fritz
is our little star!
