The North Country Trail winds through Marquette and a portion takes you along the waterfront on a paved path that some people call the bike trail, but when Laurie Bashaw told me about the trail, she said it’s more of a multi-use trail as there are walkers, runners, bikers, etc. that use the trail. Laurie has been doing some walking along there, as she has a goal for how many miles she wants to walk this coming year, which includes 100 miles on the North Country Trail. Since part of the waterfront path is also the NCT, she has been taking her walks there, since it’s safer when she’s walking alone. Her hubby, has a knee that is bothering him, so he can’t always accompany Laurie. She said there are quite a few places to park along the lakeshore and she tries to mix up where she walks for variety. The bonus for us, is that she has her phone with her to know how far she walks and also to snap photos along the way, like today’s interesting set of shots with an array of colors!

Steve Brimm mentioned that in early February, we had already seen more sun than all of January. You can see that sunshine in his video here today. BUT...as I’m typing this, the weather has gotten more typical of February with cold temperatures, some snow flurries and wind to make the bite of the cold even sharper. On again, off again winter this year so far.

A plethora of prime pix this morning!
And I believe that Laurie will meet the
10,000 step per day recommendation
by the time she’s finished walking the
trail. And thanks for the pix along the way.
Nice video too! I think I heard a slight
grunt as Steve bent down and got back
UP. Thanks for your efforts to bring us
some sweet video treats!

Way cool stuff.

Lou took me for a spin yesterday. First time since
before winter. We were out in the country
somewhere...and there are huge open fields with NO
SNOW.....In another area we did see ONE snowmobile
track..going on
the little bit of snow that WAS there, and on bare
land...you could tell they didn't go far, but they
did ride. lol. Oh what a crazy, crazy winter.

Great shots of my adopted hometown - and so many changes since back then. It's been a while, so it's good to see these! The mural on the museum is outstanding.

Enjoyed the calming vid. We have snow coming tonight, and the temps drop for a couple days, so Winter hasn't given up yet!

It’s always fun to see my pictures on Pasty! I have 28 miles to go

and will have completed the 100 mile challenge for the second

year. Last year, my husband and I mostly hiked the trail in the

woods. The ticks and mosquitoes were horrible! Last year, my

husband and I also hiked sections in Alger, Gogebic and Mackinac

Counties. I think the most fun 5 miles we did last year was the

Mackinac Bridge! I admire folks that hike the entire trail. It is the

longest trail in the US at 4800 miles.
