This past week we’ve gotten a bit more snow, kind of a blustery snow event, depending on where you live here in the Keweenaw. Barbara Bouwkamp snapped a few pictures of their neighbor’s young daughter helping Tom shovel the driveway. She’s only four, but tall for her age and must be being raised right that she is outside and having fun helping her neighbor clean out his driveway. By the looks of these photos, she really was a big help, too.

Speaking of a big help, The Keweenaw Community Foundation has put out a “Call for Artists” to help with the fabrication of a large bronze statue to commemorate the woman Anna Klobuchar Clemenc (Big Annie). They’re looking for artists to submit conceptual renderings of the statue, which will stand in Calumet. For more information, please click on the following link: Big Annie Statue – Call for Artists! Deadline for submissions is March 1st, 2024. If you’d like to make a donation to the Big Annie Statue Fund, click here: Donate Big Annie Statue Fund

We’re going to the icy shores of Lake Superior in Eagle River with The Woodsy Introverts to check out the beautiful, but also treacherous ice that builds up on the shoreline of the Big Lake. Nice to see it all from the drone footage, too.

I live seeing kids outside instead of sitting in
front of the TV screen with their video games. Not
much exercise and fresh air to be had there. What
a nice little girl.

I do love watching videos of that lake.

Cute pix! I wonder how many cookies per hour
that job pays?
Nice video, but isn’t that “Elmo’s” Tower?

By Donna (Donna) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 - 11:01 am:

How outstanding is that? The lil' helper is just an
amazing lil' girl!

Love the Woodsies! And yes Alex, that is Elmo's
Tower..pretty cool!

Here's hoping the little girl keeps a love of being
outdoors and the desire to help her neighbors.

Alex, I remember shovelling the driveway following
the blizzard of '78. Periodically I'd go back
inside for a drink of ice water and some more Girl
Scout Thin Mints.

Great pics and really cool video, well done!!

At the other end of the world, my wife is down in
Deerfield Beach FLA today on the beach with her mom
and sister, quite different I might add, lol.

UC...do me a flavor and drive to Miami and then UP
to Copper Harbor to see if it really is 1990 miles.
Stopping for gas only, I don't have all week,

Ah, to be young when everything was fun! Great pictures!

In the vid at 2:40 on the far right, it looks like there are letters in the pancake ice (not just Os).
